Trauma & PTSD
Steady, respectful support for those carrying the weight of difficult experiences.
Understanding Trauma
Trauma is not defined by the event itself but by the way it lives in your body and mind long after it has passed. You may find yourself reliving moments you thought were behind you, reacting to situations that others seem to handle with ease, or feeling disconnected from people and experiences that once held meaning. These responses are not signs of weakness. They are your nervous system's way of trying to protect you, and they deserve to be understood rather than judged.
Whether you are dealing with a single overwhelming event, complex trauma from childhood, or the cumulative toll of experiences that have shaped how you move through the world, therapy offers a path toward reclaiming a sense of safety and stability in your own life.
My Approach
I work with trauma and PTSD using a careful, paced approach that prioritizes your sense of safety at every step. Drawing on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed techniques, I help you build skills for managing the distress that trauma creates, including emotional regulation, grounding strategies, and the ability to be present without becoming overwhelmed. We do not rush. The pace of this work is always yours to set.
What Therapy Addresses
People seek trauma therapy for many reasons. You may be experiencing intrusive memories or flashbacks, difficulty trusting others or maintaining close relationships, hypervigilance or a persistent sense of being on edge, emotional numbness or detachment, sleep disruption or nightmares, and avoidance of places, people, or situations that remind you of what happened. Whatever brought you here, you do not have to navigate it alone.
What to Expect
We begin with an initial consultation to understand your experience and what feels most important to address. Early sessions focus on building trust and establishing the coping skills that will support you throughout our work together. There is no expectation to share your full story before you are ready. Sessions are available in person at my Narberth office and via telehealth throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
